Celebrating the 4th of July with Leap

What better way to kick off the 4th of July holiday weekend than with a Leap Team picnic! On Thursday, July 2nd, we gathered at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, Maryland for lunch and to learn about our Nation’s history.

Arriving on the scene, Leap staffers were greeted with a delicious boxed lunch from Panera and some new Leap swag – complete with Leap masks! A local historian joined us and spoke about the events leading up to the 4th of July, the battle that occurred at Fort McHenry, and Baltimore’s role in our Nation’s independence. It was a great experience to sit by the water at the very place where the valiant defense of the fort inspired Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the Battle of Baltimore.
